Day One

Spend the day visiting some of Halifax’s highlights – the city’s vibrant waterfront is a great place to start!

Be sure to visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, featuring newly expanded exhibits showcasing Canada’s immigration story. Find your sense of wonder at The Discovery Centre, the city’s new hands-on science centre. Or immerse yourself in Nova Scotia’s rich maritime heritage at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

Check out the array of specialty boutiques, pubs and restaurants all along the boardwalk – from the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market and Bishop’s Landing, to Historic Properties.

Finish off the day with a spectacular seafood meal at one of the city’s many restaurants.

Day Two

The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a must-see stop on any Halifax itinerary. Enjoy the pageantry and music of the kilted 78th Highlanders as you tour one of Canada’s most popular heritage treasures and be sure to watch the firing of the noon day gun!

Take a stroll through the Halifax Public Gardens, a 17-acre Victorian formal garden located in the heart of the city. Just steps away from the Gardens, is one of Halifax’s main shopping districts – Spring Garden Road. Stop in to the Halifax Central Library – the award-winning and innovative library is a cultural hub of downtown.

This evening, experience the unique Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Brewery before sampling a few of Halifax’s lively pubs.

Day Three

Travel to the picturesque Annapolis Valley, the heartland of Nova Scotia’s farming and wine industry (just an hour’s drive from Halifax). Explore our vineyards and sample some of the award-winning vintages, including Nova Scotia’s first wine appellation, Tidal Bay.

Discover the dramatic coastal beauty of the Bay of Fundy, home to the highest tides in the world. Enjoy lunch and a tour of the lobster pound at Hall’s Harbour, a lovely natural harbour and picturesque fishing village on the upper Bay of Fundy.

Learn the story of the Acadians through the Landscape of Grand-Pré, a UNESCO World Heritage Site before travelling back to Halifax.

Day Four

Nova Scotia’s South Shore is a popular day trip from Halifax, filled with coastal charm and unforgettable landscape. Visit Peggy’s Cove, where the picturesque lighthouse sits high upon the wave-worn granite of the Atlantic coast and is one of the most photographed places in Canada.

Discover a unique collection of shops, studios and galleries in Mahone Bay where the artisans are inspired by the sea.

Before returning to Halifax, visit “Old Town” Lunenburg, where the colourful waterfront, narrow streets, captivating architecture and seafaring history have made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
