There is no shortage of delicious brunch spots in Halifax, but where do you go for a good midweek breakfast?
We’ve got the scoop on the best places to enjoy the most important meal of the day!
West End Halifax:
1 – Ardmore Tea Room
Address: 6499 Quinpool Road, West End Halifax
Can you really even call yourself a Haligonian if you haven’t had at least one early morning breakfast at the Ardmore? We think not. This place is practically an institution, and its delicious diner menu always keeps us coming back for more.
Early birds rejoice: The Ardmore opens at 5am, seven days a week.
Address: 2394 Robie Street, West End Halifax
A delicious all day breakfast option if you’re looking for something a step up from a typical diner breakfast. Their menu includes Bread Puddin’ French Toast, Kale Frittata, and Buttermilk Buckwheat Pancakes.
3 – Wild Leek
If you’re more of a tofu and green juice than a bacon and eggs kind of person, Wild Leek is the place for you!
This cute vegan spot offers breakfast from 10am-4pm with yummy options like Apple Pie Pancakes and Tofu Huevos Rancheros.
4 – Lucky Penny
Address: 6440 Quinpool Road, West End Halifax
With a small but mighty breakfast menu, this new spot on Quinpool will get you fueled up for the day with healthy options like Overnight Oats and Avo Toast.
5 – Dilly Dally
Address: 6100 Quinpool Road, West End Halifax
Another adorable coffee shop on Quinpool, Dilly Dally has a great cozy, community vibe and a delicious breakfast menu.
Stop by as early as 6:30am for options including Sunshine Yogurt Sundaes, Fried Egg Sammies, and BLT Bagels.
Downtown Halifax District:
Another Halifax classic!
This cozy café serves up a hearty breakfast menu complete smoothies, egg sandwiches, breakfast plates, and granola. Pair that with their delicious coffee and inviting décor and you’ve got the perfect place to start your day.
7 – Elle’s Bistro
If options are your thing, head to Elle’s Bistro! They carry an extensive all day breakfast menu with everything from Breakfast Poutine to Stuffed French Toast to 13 different omelet variations!!
8 – Annie’s Place
Address: 1592B Queen Street, Downtown Halifax
Offering an all day breakfast menu starting at 7 am, Annie’s is a great place to dine solo or with a group- they offer bookings for small breakfast meetings of 8-10 people.

Head down to the Seaport Farmer’s Market for healthy organic breakfasts from Norbert’s, Halifax’s first and only farm to table eatery. You can enjoy your breakfast in their seating area or take it up top to the market’s roof top terrace.

North End District:
10 – Waffle Love
Address: 5530 Kaye Street, North End Halifax
Is there anything more exciting than getting a plate full of waffles piled high with toppings? If there is, we haven’t found it! Opening at 9am, Waffle Love has got you covered six days a week (they’re closed Wednesday).
11 – Hali Deli
This “Old World Delicatessen” takes inspiration from Eastern European, Russian, and Hungarian cuisine and offers a hearty all day breakfast menu with classic deli items including lox, salmon cakes, fried eggs, and rye bread.
12 – The Coastal Cafe
Address: 2731 Robie Street, North End Halifax
Lucky for us, one of the city’s most popular brunch spots does breakfast too!
Open everyday at 9am (except for Wednesdays, when it’s closed), this place is what breakfast dreams are made of!
Dartmouth-Cole Harbour Region
Address: 55 Portland Street, Dartmouth
From sweet crepes with lemon, sugar, Nutella, and more, to savoury crepes bursting with ham, cheese and other hearty goodness; Portland Street Creperie is certainly bringing a Nova Scotian twist to this European classic!
14 – The Canteen
Address: 22 Portland Street, Dartmouth
This neighbourhood restaurant is perfect for making a morning of a ferry ride, a trip to the Alderney Landing Farmers’ Market, followed by a delicious breakfast.
