About This Experience
Beloved Nova Scotia folk-artist Maud Lewis not only created bright, sunny folk art on everything from scraps of wall paper and shells to beach rocks and boards – she also used her entire house as a canvas.
She painted not just on the outside and the inside of the house, including on the stairs and the windows, but painted on many of the household objects like the wood stove, the bread box, a dustpan and serving trays.
Lucky for art-lovers, the house is on display at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, along with the largest public collection of her work.
Art Gallery admission grants visitors access to the entire gallery, including the Maud Lewis Gallery.
