About This Experience
The Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is a community museum dedicated to preserving and interpreting Cole Harbour’s agricultural past, and to developing understanding of plants, animals and farming today.
Heritage Buildings
The Cole Harbour Heritage Farm houses eight heritage buildings that date between 1780 -1938. The Farm Museum is a fine example of a Nova Scotia family farm. This farm’s origins date to 1800, at a time when the farm operation was on both sides of the Cole Harbour Road.
Farm Animals
The museum partners with area farms each year to bring in a small selection of traditional livestock from May to October. This generally includes sheep, poultry, pigs, calves and goats. A few of the animals are mature and rejoin us each year while others arrive as new spring babies who will grow up with us over the season. Where possible we bring in traditional and heritage breeds, typical of what would have been kept in Cole Harbour over the last 100 years.
The Rose & Kettle Tea Room
Inspired by the beautiful Victorian veranda of the Harris House and its plentiful roses, the Rose and Kettle Tearoom has been the heart of the Farm for over 20 years.
Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, lunch, or freshly baked goods at one of our carefully spaced picnic tables, one of our many outdoor benches, or bring a blanket and make it a picnic!
