Once you’ve settled in, take some time to get to know your weekend surroundings. The best way to do so is by donning your favorite walking shoes and wandering the city streets.
The downtown core is one of the most popular areas – and for good reason! Here you can take in the iconic waterfront views and historic sites of the city.
Don’t miss the Halifax Central Library, the Old Town Clock, and St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Grand Parade! Fun fact: St. Paul’s is the oldest Anglican Church in North America!
For even more history, and some of the most breathtaking views, climb to the top of Citadel Hill (not to mention it’s the perfect backdrop for the first of many group shots).

As the sun sets, it’s time for dinner and a show. With a growing food scene, the city has countless options to choose from for a bite.
If you’re looking for a tasty meal paired with a picture-perfect setting, we recommend The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar or Lot Six Bar & Restaurant.

Day 2: Saturday
Good morning, ladies! From your downtown hotel, take a stroll along the waterfront to the place that Haligonians will tell you Saturday mornings are all about—The Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market. Here you can grab a delicious breakfast and coffee from one of the many vendors, while browsing local produce, homemade crafts, and more.
» TIP: Grab a bottle of local wine, spirits or beer for later on with the girls!

Next up to start your day off right, there’s nothing like a bit of exercise for the girls. Luckily, Halifax is bursting with unique fitness activities. If you and your friends are looking for a little relaxation, choose a yoga or pilates class from Rio. For a more adventurous group of girlfriends, try out a pole dancing class at Studio in Essence or a burlesque class at Serpentine Studios.
After your early morning, you’ll deserve some much-needed R&R at Spirit Spa. Your crew can be pampered and primped with full body massages, manis/pedis, hair and make-up, and even a healthy lunch on their outdoor patio.
Now that you’re relaxed and recharged, you can start flexing your shopping muscles. Whether you choose to hit one of the many malls or explore the city’s downtown boutiques, retail therapy is never hard to find in Halifax.
Once wine o’clock rolls around it’s time for your night on the town! With dozens of pubs, clubs, and eateries, Halifax is rightfully known for its nightlife. Really, the problem won’t be finding a place to go, but narrowing down all of the amazing options!
» TIP: Try kicking off the evening at one of these fantastic local wine bars.
Start with any one of the city’s delicious dining options before putting on your dancing shoes at a classic Maritime pub filled with music, a lively dance club, or a party boat in the Halifax harbour. The options are endless!
Day 3: Sunday
Many people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but, after a night of dancing, brunch is a girl’s best friend! A little bit breakfast and a little bit lunch, any one of these five brunches will be sure to please everyone in your group.
Before heading back home, spend your afternoon embracing Canada’s Ocean Playground!
Whether it’s kayaking Halifax’s stunning waterways, hiking a scenic trail, or hitting the beach (maybe even trying surfing!), you won’t regret making memories in the great outdoors with your girlfriends.
