Move over beer, there’s a new drink in town! Cider has been having a moment the last couple of years, and luckily for us, it’s led to a boom in local Nova Scotia cider production and even the opening of two new cideries right in the city.
From No Boats On Sunday, to Bulwark, to Chain Yard, and so many more, there’s no shortage of refreshingly delicious beverages being made from our homegrown NS apples.
Have we sparked your interest? Keep reading for our picks for some of our favourite places in Halifax to enjoy a local cider.
1 – Chain Yard Urban Cidery
2606 Agricola St. – North End Halifax
Halifax’s first cidery has been packed since day one.
Located in Halifax’s trendy North End neighbourhood, it’s a local favourite for its great patio, delicious menu, and of course, the excellent selection of ciders.
Our recommendation? Sample as many as you can with one of their cider flights!
2 – Lake City Cider
35 Portland St. – Downtown Dartmouth
Brand new to the scene, Lake City Cider is among the new wave of hot-spots popping up throughout Downtown Dartmouth.
The vibe is chill, the ciders and crisp, and it’s one of our top picks for must-visit places in the city.
3 – Stubborn Goat Beer Garden
1599 Lower Water St. – Downtown Halifax
During the summer months, you can enjoy a local cider with a view at the Stubborn Goat Beer Garden on the waterfront. In addition to their rotation of local beers, they also have a selection of local ciders on tap and bottled.
Craving cider during Halifax’s chillier months? Head to the Stubborn Goat Gastropub location!
4 – Stillwell Bar
1672 Barrington St. – Downtown Halifax
With an emphasis on local beverages, Stillwell offers an ever-changing selection of Nova Scotian beer and ciders (though you’ll find options from beyond the Maritimes as well).
You can enjoy your cider at their location on Barrington or, during the summer, at the Spring Garden Rd. beer garden.
5 – Seven Bays Bouldering
