Over and over, visitors to Halifax comment on the warm hospitality of Nova Scotian people. This commitment to client service is regularly mentioned, but it’s not every day that Halifax claims an award for it.
Destination Halifax was recently one of just four Canadian winners of a Meetings & Conventions (M&C) Gold Service Award honouring convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) that have shown exceptional professionalism and dedication in their service to meeting professionals.
US-based meeting planners voted for the top CVBs and awarded the Gold Service distinction to 82 domestic (American) and 17 international CVBs and tourism boards. Destination Halifax was one of only 17 international winners.
Reflecting on the award, Patricia Lyall, President and CEO of Destination Halifax, is honoured, but not surprised.
“One of Halifax’s greatest assets is our people,” she said. “Service excellence is a source of pride for Team Halifax, and we’re thankful to have been recognized for it by the readers of Meetings & Conventions.”
Meetings & Conventions voters made their selections based on professionalism of staff, support on hotels and site inspections, assistance with ground transportation planning, guidance on local attractions and liaison with local vendors and services.
Kirk Lewis, Publisher of Meetings & Conventions magazine, claimed that what sets the winning CVBs apart is their dedication to continually providing quality service. “Gold Service winning CVBs know the value of creating a lasting impression,” he said.
