If there’s one thing Haligonians love, it’s a good brunch, and no Canadian brunch would be complete without that classic Canadian cocktail, the Caesar. This popular drink is a twist on a Bloody Mary and features vodka and Clamato juice—a mix of tomato and clam juice.
The drink was invented in Calgary, Alberta in 1969 and is now on menus across the country with millions of devoted fans. Caesar recipes have since been spiced up and garnished with just about anything you can think of. One thing is for sure, there’s no shortage of variety when it comes to finding a great Caesar in Halifax.
While usually paired with brunch, these Caesars are so good you just might want to drink one at any time of the day!

A mere block from bustling Spring Garden Road, Black Sheep Restaurant is a small, stylish restaurant with excellent service and locally inspired dishes. Not only is their Caesar perfectly spicy, it’s garnished with a hearty piece of house-made jerky.
2 – Brooklyn Warehouse
Brooklyn Warehouse is a funky bistro serving creative Canadian cuisine. Their Wasabi Caesar is a local favorite—it’s a unique twist on the classic that stands out from the rest.
3 – Durty Nelly’s Authentic Irish Pub
An authentic Irish pub with East Coast hospitality, Durty Nelly’s has no fewer than six Caesars on its brunch menu! From the standard vodka Caesar to a sweet and spicy rum Caesar, they even have a Canadian Club Caesar garnished with maple bacon.

4 – EDNA
The only thing better than a classic Caesar is a classic Caesar with a freshly shucked oyster on top! EDNA’s Oyster Caesar is just one of the delectable items on their popular brunch menu.
Local tip: EDNA does not take reservations, so be prepared to wait with other brunch-goers before digging into to this popular spot’s modern maritime dishes. We PROMISE it’ll be worth the wait.
5 – The Auction House
If you’re looking for a cocktail with brunch, look no further than The Auction House! Their Caesar & Mimosa specials on Saturdays and Sundays this restaurant (located inside a 250 year old building!) a no-brainer for satisfying your Caesar cravings.
6 – Morris East
We’ve got one word for you: chipotle. It’s the key ingredient to Morris East’s homemade spicy Caesar mix and it gives the drinks a satisfying kick. Pair it with their Lumberjack pizza and you’ve got yourself a meal!
7 – Your Father’s Moustache

Your Father’s Moustache not only has a killer local craft beer menu, their Caesar has been considered one of the best in Halifax for years. No bells or whistles here! Just a classic cocktail made really, really well.
8 – Five Fishermen
From Nova Scotian fish chowder to a classic lobster dinner, to Oysters Rockafeller, if it’s seafood you crave, you’ll definitely find it at the Five Fishermen.
Not only do they serve beautiful seafood dishes (and a mean grilled steak), their Caesar is a perfect iteration of the classic cocktail, complete with traditional celery garnish.
